A child who attends regularly ...

Modern life makes many demands on families. When Sunday morning rolls around, parents may feel too tired or too busy for church. Because most children are brought by their parents, it’s important to we as parents are allies in helping our children establish good attendance.

Classmates at church may be from different schools or areas of town and may only see each other once a week. A student who attends infrequently does not have the opportunity to cultivate these significant relationships. As a result, the child may feel lonely or isolated at church and so becomes less interested in attending. Even if a child complains about activities or teachers at church, he or she will often remain eager to come to church to see his or her friends. Especially as children move into their teen years, it may be difficult to begin new friendships at church, so it is important for friendships to be established at an early age.

What habits are you helping to create?

A child who attends regularly is likely to continue church participation as an adult—not only because the habit is established, but also because the child has built solid friendships through regular attendance.
